Refit:  Winter 2008-2009

Winter 2008-2009 Refit | Sunday, March 1, 2009

March!  Where did February go?

Fortunately, I really had little remaining on my work list--my personal sense of urgency at completing the entire work list sooner than later had a lot more to do with a desire to have nothing hanging over my head later, and also so that when the weather improved I could move the boat outdoors to make room inside for some other things that I had coming up.

To that end, I spent a couple hours this day masking off some of the exterior brightwork that required maintenance coats--the handrails, companionway trim, and sea hood, specifically.  After masking off the required areas, I sanded the brightwork with 320 grit paper, cleaned up, and applied a coat of varnish to all areas.

While I was at it, I also masked off the two forward-facing ports in the doghouse in preparation for my imminent tackling of the annual chore of sanding and re-lacquering the bronze port frames, to which silliness I stubbornly cling.

Total time today:  2.5 hours
